A Country in Crisis

Kenya is a country full of beauty, diversity, and life. Yet for many people, every day begins with major challenges: We can hardly imagine what it means to lack water. To not take a meal for granted. To have children born into poverty with no prospects for the future.

CBN, through its relief organization Operation Blessing and local partners, is working to combat water scarcity, strengthen families, protect children, and create long-term opportunities. But we can only do this with your support! That’s why we invite you to support projects like these with your donation.

Humanitarian Help in Kenya

Several members of the German CBN team visited the projects in Kenya. They were very impressed by the beauty and biodiversity of this country and deeply moved by the great need they saw. In our short report, we take you along on this journey. It shows the reality faced by many people—but also the impact that humanitarian aid can have in these regions. Further down on this page, you’ll find more detailed information about the projects in Kenya and insights into the team. (The video is in German, English subtitles are available.)

What CBN Does

CBN’s humanitarian efforts in Kenya focuse on providing assistance that brings about lasting improvements in people’s daily lives. The emphasis is on projects that ensure essential living conditions and create long-term prospects:

Access to clean water

In many regions of Kenya, water is scarce or difficult to access. Wells and larger-scale water systems provide entire communities with access to clean and safe drinking water. This reduces disease, promotes food security, and makes daily life much easier. Thanks to the well in her village, Mateine (pictured) can provide for herself and her family and no longer has to walk long distances to fetch water that is often contaminated.

Food and Agriculture

Many families struggle with food insecurity. Through sustainable agricultural projects—such as the Sackgarden program, microenterprises, or assistance for schools and young children—we ensure that children have enough to eat and empower families to better provide for themselves. Pamela for example is able to support herself and her family with her CBN-funded food truck.

Education and Child Welfare

Children are particularly affected by poverty. CBN partners with schools and other projects that help create better learning conditions and open up new opportunities for children’s futures. At her school—which is supported by CBN donors—Marina not only has access to education but also receives a hot meal every day.

Medical Care

In remote regions, medical care is often difficult to access. Mobile medical teams and medical support help alleviate acute emergencies and ensure basic care. Dinan (pictured) was born with a cleft lip. A generous CBN donor funded his surgery.

Help for Families and Communities

Many families in Kenya live in difficult and precarious conditions without adequate shelter. Housing projects provide them with a safe home. Separate kitchens and bathrooms improve hygiene conditions. Having a home of their own also lays the foundation for  a more self-determined life. Naserian’s house was destroyed by fire. Now she and her family have a new home. In the photo, she is pictured with her family in front of their new house.
