New eyesight – new possibilities

More freedom for Valentyna

When Valentyna Serhiyenko’s eyesight deteriorated rapidly, surgery became unavoidable. Valentyna wanted to remain self-sufficient. Her daughter took her to a clinic in Kiev, where an ophthalmologist diagnosed cataracts in both eyes. Valentyna was prescribed surgical treatment, which was accompanied by a comprehensive examination.

Due to the cataracts, Valentyna found it difficult to cope with everyday life. Basic tasks became a challenge; she could not read anymore, her mobility and coordination were impaired, and going to church became difficult.

The family had spent everything they had on previous operations on her legs and had even taken on debt. Valentyna hesitated to ask her daughter for help because she did not want to burden her. But her daughter Natalia understood that her mother needed surgery and looked for a solution. Natalia turned to the CBN aid organization Operation Blessing. For her, it was like an answer from God. Generous partners of CBN paid for her treatment.

After the eye surgery, Valentyna’s vision improved significantly. She is now able to prepare her own meals, dress herself, and to clean her room. She can also leave the house without assistance and climb stairs on her own. “With the Lord’s help and your support, I have gained new eyesight and new possibilities!”
