God’s promise for Iryna

CBN supports Ukrainian mother in restarting her career

In 2025, CBN Germany launched a pilot program in Ukraine to support internally displaced families by helping them set up micro-businesses. These grants are of enormous importance to people who have lost their homes, stability, and livelihoods as a result of the war. One of the first participants in this program was Iryna Stepurko.

Before the war, Iryna ran her own nail salon in Donetsk. But Russia’s war of aggression turned her life completely upside down: When Russia invaded Donbass, her family had to flee—leaving all their belongings behind. Without her equipment, Iryna could no longer work. “I just prayed, ‘Lord, help me!’” Iryna says she often heard God’s voice in her heart: “He always says the same thing: ‘I will never leave you.’ Those words have sustained me for many years.”

New Hope through CBN aid program

Then Iryna heard about CBN and the program for internally displaced persons. She immediately sensed that God was at work. “I decided to apply for a business grant from CBN Germany in the hope of rebuilding my work and giving our family at least some stability. When the grant was approved, I was so relieved and happy as if someone had given me the chance to start my life over. Now I can work anywhere because I have new, high-quality equipment.”

A new life begins

Iryna now has 10 to 12 clients per week, which is a significant help for her family. “Without financial support, this path would have been nearly impossible. Thanks to our German partners, I now have the opportunity to return to my beloved profession. They have helped me regain a part of my life.”
