Building houses in Indonesia
One example of this is the house-building projects supported by CBN. People who are in need because of natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis or storms are helped to make a fresh start. This was also the case for Tise, from Indonesia. Her simple little house was destroyed in a severe storm. “It was very windy that day. I looked up and heard it crashing into the wooden beams that held the roof. When the wind got even stronger, the house collapsed.“
Tise was literally facing the ruins of her life. She works hard because she not only takes care of her disabled husband and two children, but she also takes care of two other children. Tise cleans in several households, earning about $10 a week. That wasn’t enough to rebuild her home. CBN’s ministry, Operation Blessing, learned of the family’s situation through Tise’s daughter, Angel. Angel who was attending an after-school educational programs offered by CBN, was offered immediate help. “When Operation Blessing said they would take care of my house, it was like a dream come true. Now my kids don’t have to worry about rain and storms. I was so thankful to God!” The team arrived and got to work. First, they had to remove the remains of the old house before they could build a new sturdy home. Soon the family was able to move in and get back to their lives. Tisa´s family are now looking forward to a brighter future.
