Why clean water is essential

Around two-thirds of the world’s population does not have access to clean and safe drinking water all year round. Creating this access not only quenches thirst! It protects against preventable infectious diseases and death and generally improves health. Year-round water supply increases crop yields and improves livestock breeding – the supply situation is improved and people have more money at their disposal. This in turn enables better education. The quality of life of entire communities improves. In 2010, the United Nations recognized the right to water as a human right. Help us make this right a reality.

How you can help

Join us in implementing water projects and providing people with clean water. Since 2017, CBN has built 56 well-designed and innovative water projects, such as water systems and wells, with the support of generous donors from CBN Germany, and more are in the planning stages. This has provided many communities around the world with drinking water. With your help, we can help even more people. The construction of a well that supplies an entire community with clean water costs €7,000, and extensive water systems are usually a lot more expensive. These water systems are specially adapted to the needs of a community or region and often include the construction of water pipes to the house and the installation of sanitary facilities. The CBN relief organization Operation Blessing, which implements the construction projects, not only ensures the supply of drinking water: Each community with which a water project is implemented also receives training on the care and maintenance of the water system or well. In addition, they receive hygiene training to improve their general health. Please help us provide clean water to even more people!
