Caller prays for years for her son’s salvation

Testimony from the CBN Prayer Hotline

“Jesus used a parable to illustrate how important it is to pray tirelessly and not give up: … In the same town there was also a widow. Day after day she pestered him with her plea: ‘Please help me get justice!’” (Luke 18:1+3; HFA. The entire parable can be found in Luke 18:1-8).

For several years now, a lady has been calling our prayer hotline regularly. Our prayer team has gotten to know Mrs. P. quite well; her request was almost always the same every week: we should pray for her son. Through the influence of his boss at work and some acquaintances, he had converted to Islam. This weighed heavily on Mrs. P.’s heart, and she simply could not and would not accept it. She knew that her son needed Jesus, His salvation and His love – and that He is the only way to the Father, the truth and the life! Discussing it with her son had not helped much, so she prayed for him: week after week, month after month, for years.

A word from God

More than 10 years ago, God had given her a word from Jeremiah that gave her hope again and again and to which she clung in prayer all those years: “Thus says the LORD: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted for her children for they are finished. But thus says the LORD: Cease your crying and weeping and the tears in your eyes, for your labor will be rewarded, says the LORD. They shall return from the land of the enemy, and there is hope for your future, says the LORD: Your children shall return to their homeland. (Jeremiah 31:15-17; LUT 2017) This word from God and the promise it contained kept Mrs. P. praying for so long.

New freedom in Jesus

Then, last summer, the miracle happened: her son encountered a Christian colleague at work who told him about Jesus. And so, on July 31, 2025, he gave his life to Jesus and renounced Islam! In tears, Mrs. P. and her son stood on their balcony and prayed together. “God has freed my son from the dark forces. He now knows that love and freedom can only be found in Jesus.”

Since his conversion, much has changed in Mrs. P.’s son’s life: he reads the Bible regularly, and now the two no longer argue about which religion is the right one. Instead, they talk about different passages from the Bible, and Mrs. P. marvels at the insights God has already given her son. He also wants to be baptized soon. Ms. P. is overjoyed—she knows that God has heard all her prayers and kept His word, which He gave her so long ago. Now, finally, He has made a breakthrough.

God answers prayer

This testimony is meant to encourage you to keep praying! Don’t give up! Sometimes it just takes a while for God to fulfill His promises. Sometimes we need to be very patient and persistent in prayer. But it is worth trusting in God and His word and persevering in prayer!
