“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem”

There are widely differing perspectives and opinions on the conflict in Israel and the Middle East. There are numerous passages in the Bible that call us to pray for Israel. Therefore, we want to base our prayers on the Bible and align ourselves with what God’s Word says about prayer and Israel:

  1. “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Psalms 122:6-7; NIV)
  2. God himself will one day bring peace to the world and rule from Jerusalem. (Isaiah 2:3-4)
  3. Jesus is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 3:5)
  4. God wants all people to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth! (1 Timothy 2:4)
  5. He will pour out his Holy Spirit upon all people (Acts 2:17-18)
  6. We should pray for those in authority so that we may live peaceful and quiet lives (1 Timothy 2:2)
  7. Jesus taught us in the Lord’s Prayer to pray that his kingdom come and his will be done! (Matthew 6:10)

Prayer

“Father in heaven, I pray for peace in Jerusalem. Jesus, you are the Prince of Peace—without you there will be no peace!

Let all people in Israel (the Jewish people, the Arab people, and the entire population) recognize who you, Jesus, are. Let them come to the knowledge of the truth: You are the way, the truth, and the life!

Pour out your Holy Spirit on Israel so that signs and wonders may happen. I pray for the people in authority, for all decision-makers and those in power, for divine wisdom and strategies, so that people may live in peace and tranquility.

Father, I pray that your kingdom may come and your will be done, in Israel and throughout the Middle East!

Amen.”
