Flood disaster in Spain
Severe rainfall in Valencia
Extreme weather conditions have caused major damage in Spain, particularly in the Valencia region. The media report well over 200 deaths. A team from CBN is on site.
Our help:
- The groundwater was polluted by the flood, leaving many families without drinking water. With your donations, two drinking water purification plants were therefore purchased and installed in a church and a school to provide people with clean water. By filling the water into flexible bags instead of hard canisters or bottles, more clean water can be transported and brought to the people more quickly.
- After such disasters, cleaning and disinfectant products often become scarce. However, the persistent moisture and dirt cause bacteria to form that trigger diseases. This is why the CBN aid organization Operation Blessing has set itself the task of distributing cleaning agents and cleaning utensils to ensure people’s health.
- Food is also distributed to those affected in Valencia.
Heavy rainfall caused extensive damage in November. According to media reports, around 400 liters of rain per square meter fell within a short period of time. The effects are devastating. The Valencia region has been particularly severely affected. Employees of the CBN humanitarian aid organization Operation Blessing have been in Spain the day before for a disaster relief training. Therefore they were in a position to move quickly and take the necessary steps to help where the need is greatest.
Every year, people around the world struggle to survive when disaster strikes. Whether it’s a natural disaster such as a flood, a storm, an earthquake or a threatening conflict situation, CBN’s relief organization Operation Blessing helps disaster victims survive and recover by providing critical aid.
Help people affected by floods and disasters by praying for them and, if you can, by making a donation.
