Achieving more together
The CBN aid organizations unite to provide even better help
Every child deserves to look forward to a hopeful future. But for many children around the world, this cannot be taken for granted. They struggle against hunger, illness, and inadequate education. This is precisely where the aid organization Orphan’s Promise comes in – and now also Operation Blessing: in April, the two CBN aid organizations joined forces to be there for people even more effectively.
From now on, Orphan’s Promise will work under the umbrella of Operation Blessing. By joining forces, the aid organizations can change even more lives, provide more effective support, and bring hope to where it is needed most.
The origins of Orphan’s Promise go back a long way: Terry Meeuwsen, then a presenter on CBN, adopted three sisters from Ukraine with her husband. At the time, she recognized the deep need of orphans. She was particularly moved by the story of the eldest sister: she would have ended up on the street at the age of 15 without any further support. This motivated Terry to find a life school that would prepare children for an independent life in a very practical way – for example by teaching them English, good housekeeping and how to manage money. Orphan’s Promise was born.
The organization has now been helping disadvantaged children for almost 20 years. Through education, nutrition, and spiritual and personal support, it gives them hope and a perspective. Orphan’s Promise is involved in over 400 projects in 63 countries to give disadvantaged children a better future. The integration into Operation Blessing will not diminish this commitment – on the contrary: together, the two organizations can now help even more people, make better use of their resources, and thus work more efficiently. It will also make Operation Blessing’s services more accessible to the children cared for by Orphan’s Promise. Be it life-changing surgeries, access to clean water, hunger relief or disaster relief. Drew Friedrich, Director of Operation Blessing, emphasizes, “Merging these two ministries will exponentially increase our impact worldwide. Together we can accomplish more than either of us could on our own.”
Supporters of Orphan’s Promise need not worry: Appropriately earmarked donations will of course continue to go for work with children. “Our identity is not being lost, but our possibilities are changing,” emphasizes Terry Meeuwsen. “We maximize our resources and can change even more lives.”
The two aid organizations complement each other so that people in need can be helped in a variety of ways. The vision remains the same, but the opportunities are growing – for an even greater impact and hope for countless people worldwide.
Help us – together we can make a lasting difference to children’s lives!
