Perfect Happiness

Written by Gaby W., CBN-Prayer Hotline

The Lord has promised us perfect joy if we remain in his love, as we can read in John 15:9-12: “… Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”

Perfect joy is an enormous promise, because who or what on this earthly ball is already perfect? I don’t know any perfect people. I do know lovable, valuable people, but they are not perfect either. Only our Lord Jesus Christ is perfect; he is also faithful and just, true to his word and loves so much.

Contagious joy

The Lord is our Creator, he has given us life and at the same time ensures that we can lead a beautiful life by fulfilling the deep need for love and satisfying the need for joy through his Holy Spirit. He knows that our lives are so much easier and more beautiful with joy and therefore with the ability to laugh.

Isn’t it soothing and rousing when we look into a face that is happy? It is like a door opener to our hearts. The Lord has thought this up so wonderfully, because it allows us to pass on the joy about the Lord and from the Lord. It is contagious to be with someone who laughs heartily. Joy connects people, it creates friendships and generates sympathy.

Every emotion of the other person touches us, as it is written: “Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” (Romans 12:15) There is a time for everything, for laughing and crying, the Lord created us with both and that is wonderful. Weeping and laughing are sometimes so close together and both are allowed.

Deciding to Rejoice

It is a decision to rejoice. If I decide to rejoice, for example in the time that the Lord gives me, I approach the day more positively, even though it may lie ahead of me with all its challenges.

I would also like to emphasize that joy reaches into eternity, because in Acts 2:28 it says: “You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.” Even then, when we stand before his face one day, we will be filled with joy. Isn’t that all reason enough to rejoice?

Give the gift of joy

Finally, I would like to share with you a quote from the very dear caller Ewald R. from our prayer hotline, which he wrote to one of our prayer warriors: “Your laughter should be bottled up and dripped onto sugar cubes as emergency drops and offered to the hopeless, shy, and discouraged in the last rows of the church every time they attend a service. Because God also lives with those in the last pews.”

On the one hand, this is very touching and, on the other, it is an invitation to share your beautiful laughter, because it will then multiply and certainly touch the hearts of your fellow human beings.

Perfect joy and increasing laughter – I wish you this from the bottom of my heart, because it contains blessings and love. Give both generously. It will come back to you in many ways.
