Nothing is impossible for God
A day with Superbook
The tension is palpable. Around 140 children from the AHFS elementary school chatter excitedly in the large hall of the Christusgemeinde Barmbek-Süd church in Hamburg. And then it starts: Superbook Coordinator Evert Trollip welcomes the children from second to fourth grade to today’s Superbook Day.
A huge adventure awaits the children, as today is all about the Bible story of David and Goliath. But there are also games on the program: the children had great fun with cup stacking and ‘balancing on their heads’. Girls against boys, of course. And, of course, one of them was not to be missed: Robot Gizmo. He delighted the children with hugs and high-fives when they arrived and said goodbye.
Together they watch a Superbook episode. In it, David faces a very special enemy, the giant Goliath. The Bible describes how the little shepherd boy defeats this seemingly overpowering enemy with ease because God is on his side. The devotional by Super Book coordinator Evert Trollip is also about the almighty God. He had prepared the whole day with the material from the Super Book Academy, which provides inspiration, games and devotions for children’s services. Afterwards, the children sing “Nothing is impossible for you” to God.
And then the day is already over again. Time went by in leaps and bounds. As a farewell gift, the children receive a colorful Superbook bag. With this gift and many new impressions, they set off for home in a good mood.
