A new house for Mickella<\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

When Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm, struck Jamaica in October 2025, it destroyed Mickella\u2019s home and took everything from her and her family.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI walked around and gathered up everything that\u00a0hadn\u2019t\u00a0been destroyed. I looked for things that might be able to be washed and reused.\u201d<\/p>\n

They spent a week in a tent next to their destroyed home until a neighbor finally offered them a room where they could stay for a while.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are five of us in our family. I had never lived with everyone in a single room before.\u00a0So\u00a0our living conditions were completely different from what we were used to,\u201d Mickella explains.<\/p>\n

Help in challenging times<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

Even after her husband went back to work to support the family, they still had no clear prospect of a new home. Mickella longed for normalcy. \u201cI really wanted things to go back to the way they were before.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite the challenging situation, Mickella decided to help others together with her church congregation. She began volunteering with the CBN charity Operation Blessing to support families in need.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou could see the joy on people\u2019s faces when you\u00a0gave\u00a0them small gifts. The gratitude they showed us was so heartwarming. It gave me a sense of purpose to give, even when I had nothing myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

A New Home for Mickella<\/h3>\n

 <\/p>\n

When Operation Blessing began building homes, it was clear that Mickella needed help too.\u00a0And\u00a0so\u00a0she, too, received a new home.<\/p>\n

Mickella was overwhelmed: \u201cIt was such a blessing to have a new roof over our heads!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Before the hurricane, Mickella had been baking cakes and earning some extra money by selling them.\u00a0So\u00a0she could do that again, CBN gave her new kitchen equipment: an oven, a mixer, and other utensils she needed for baking.<\/p>\n
